healthcare violence

As a victim of healthcare violence I feel as though I am only a statisic. People forget ,their own lives take importance. I can certainly understand that. I just don't understand why it's okay with so many people.
Administrators have been heard to say after someone is assaulted and telling their story "oh I guess they didn't like you very much" or how's this response? "She is in the ER? oh she wasn't hit that hard!"
Co workers can be the same: after one nurse was kicked she didn't want to write out an incident report she says "oh it's okay" something like this is not okay,it should be reported and documented.

assault bill #1700

Back in 1999 a nurse taking care of a patient was hurt, badly hurt. She went to court, the judge stated to her "it is part of the job". Things have not changed heath care workers are getting verbally abused, physically abused, (punched, slapped, pushed, tripped ,cut and many other things) emotioally bruised.Recently my good co worker, went into a patients room, introduced herself asked if she could do anything for her the patients response was "I feel like punching someone" with that statement she punched the nurse , The power of the punch twilled her around causing her to hit the door frame causing injury to her hip and knee. The police were called ,she was told the patient couldn't be arrested because it was only a simple assault. However if this same patient hit a police officer, things are different
Guess what ! It is not in any job description to take abuse from a patient.
There is a bill pending that could help health care workers. Please call your rep and senator tell them to refile bill # 1700
